Slot machines are undeniably the most iconic symbol of any modern casino environment.

But the journey from mechanical bells to digital screens is a fascinating story.

The Invention of the First Slot

In 1895, a mechanic named Charles Fey created the first automatic payout gambling device.

It featured three spinning reels and five simple symbols, including horseshoes and a cracked bell.

For decades, machines remained purely mechanical, requiring a physical pull of the lever.

The landscape changed forever when Bally introduced the first electrically powered machine.

Modern Online Slot Machines

The true digital revolution occurred in 1976 with the invention of the first video slot.

Modern internet casinos feature an endless variety of highly advanced digital slot games.
